Moon Photography with Jack Fusco
Just because you have just captured some great images during the “Magic Hour” does not mean it’s time to put away the camera and quit shooting. The same scene you shot during the daylight will take on a whole new dimension after dark.
Join nationally acclaimed photographer Jack Fusco for a night photography session at Lake Leatherwood just minutes from Eureka Springs.
Lake Leatherwood City Park is a place of natural serenity encompassing 1600 acres which includes an 85 acre spring-fed lake. The lake is formed by one of the largest hand-cut native limestone dams in the country.
With clear or partly clear skies we will photograph stunning images including a nearly full moon over Lake Leatherwood. We will be able to photograph the moon itself and many other scenes by the light of the full moon. Jack and other volunteers will be on hand to help you learn to set your camera to shoot in low light settings opening a new world of photography.
Be sure to bring your tripod, cable release, and flashlights to this event. For photographing the moon a long lens is recommended. If you are experienced in night photography come and join us for an evening exciting area of photography. If you have never done night photography, you will absolutely want to attend and learn just how easy and fun it can be.

Never follow anyone or enter an area you are not comfortable with for a picture. Take proper equipment including a flashlight or headlamp for hiking at night.
You may consider the following tips for optimizing your night movements:
- Give your eyes time to adjust to the dark.
- Avoid looking at any direct light source.
- Use a red light when possible. (Red will less adversely affect your night vision.)
- Keep your light pointed down. Never shine your light in someone’s face.
- Slow down and be observant for obstacles and small critters of the evening.
- Consider taking a hiking stick to provide a bit of extra stability.
- Avoid walking alone if uncomfortable seeing at night.
