[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_message icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-clock-o”]5:30 – 8:00 AM Sunday, May 7[/vc_message][/vc_column][/vc_row]
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Get up early and join us acclaimed photographer Tim Johnson for a photo shoot at Black Bass Lake. We will meet at the front doors of the conference center to carpool the quick drive to the park located in the valley below the conference center.
Black Bass Lake is located just below the Inn of the Ozarks Conference Center in the headwaters of the West Leatherwood Creek valley. Visitors descend nearby Oil Springs Road passing historic Oil and Johnson Springs and a wonderful example of a cavernous overhanging ledge on the way to the park.
Black Bass Lake was created as a fire protection and drinking water reservoir from the abundant, pure springs in the upper reaches of Old Spring Gulch, including Sycamore, Standing Rock, and Arsenic Springs. The earthen and cut stone dam dates to 1894 and is one of the oldest still standing in the Ozarks.
We will leave the Inn of the Ozarks parking lot at 5:30 am in the early twilight to ensure we arrive at the lake in time for the hike. There are no facilities at Black Bass Lake. General parking is by the kiosk and across the bridge.
Free with MAPSym registration.
